Honey

Sugar...oh honey, honey... remember this song by the Archies? It was the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the name of the stamp.
It's a little hard to tell in the photo but this box is a CD holder box die for the Sizzix Pro machine. I tried to get a better photo of the box. The sample will be at the store.
I normally wouldn't use colors like these but somehow they all came together. The background and word stamp are from Hero Arts. Punch is Fiskars and American Crafts ribbon.
I used glossy accents on her sunglasses. If you look closely, you can see it.
Well, I'm off to Sam's and hope you're having a fantastic Saturday!

Leopard cake

I wanted to try something different today so I found this leopard print scrap paper in my stash and made another cake box. I was thinking that I could throw some of my costume jewelry in here. Flowers were made with the Sizzix 3-D die and different colored felt.
I have been hoarding this glittered tulle that my friend Lori gave me. I don't know why but if I really like something, I tend not to use it when I really should use it. I used a needle and thread to gather it into a ruffle.
Here is what the inside of the box looks like.
Last Sunday I made a pulley slider card on the Joy of Crafting tv show and I had a request from one of the Ben Franklin Crafts store for the instructions to make the card. Anyways, that is how I met Gail who wanted to make the pulley slider card and here is the card that she made for me.
She did such a fabulous job on this card and I love it! You have to see it IRL. Plus, I got a bag of yummy, homemade chocolate chip cookies. Thanks so much Gail!!! I have to hide the bag of cookies from my hubby because he loves sweets too. Lol!
So glad that tomorrow is Friday and I get to craft a little over the weekend. Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful weekend!!!

You're sweet!

I've been having fun playing with Sizzix's new scoreboard dies. Yesterday I opened up the rectangle box die. It's another quick and easy box to make. I like how the top cover flaps over and you can add a little decoration to it. I went with Dandelion Design stamps this time.I used a piece of velcro to hold the flap down. That stuff really works!
I used a cherries stamp for the first box. And I put glossy accents over the cherries to make it shiny. The scalloped circle is the large scalloped nestie. I used ric rac instead of ribbon to decorate the boxes. I tried all sorts of adhesive on the ric rac and the best one that I liked is the ribbon adhesive by Glue Arts. It worked!
This is how the box looks on the inside. It's another good sized box to hold trinkets or goodies. Great for gift giving.
I wanted the middle box to have a saying so I used the "you're sweet" stamp for this one.
And lastly, I love the cute little ladybug stamp. I colored her pink instead of the usual red. You can tie all 3 boxes together with a ribbon and give it to someone as a gift. It's a real cute set!
Thanks for stopping by today and leaving me comments. I really appreciate it and it makes me feel good to know that someone is reading it. Have a wonderful Wednesday!!! I'm off to meet a friend for coffee.

Chocolate cake

I haven't been around much lately because I'm still trying to catch up on my scrapbooking. Still working on 2008. I made this cake box couple weeks ago and went through different colors of cake but as always, ended up making it chocolate which is what I initially wanted. This is a Sizzix scoreboard die called cake box. It was real easy to make. You have to cover your chipboard with paper first before you die cut the pieces out. I ran all the paper through my Xyron Creatopia machine. I bought the tealight candles from Ben Franklin Crafts. You get 4 tealights in the package. I used the Sizzix 3-D flower die to decorate around the tealight. When you take the cover off, the inside looks like this. Its quite big and can hold a bunch of goodies in it.
I made the border with the Martha Stewart loopy punch. You cut a strip of paper 3/4" wide. I discovered the size of this when I dug out a scrap from my stash and started punching along both sides.
First, using the loopy punch, you punch along one side of your strip of paper.
Then turn your paper strip over to the other side and punch along the strip.
You end up with this cute loopy border.
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday!

Fun filled birthday lunch

This past Friday, my gf Teri took me to lunch at Macaroni Grill to celebrate my birthday which is actually today. So nice to sit back and relax and talk and laugh with a girlfriend. We had a great waiter who was able to take a picture of us this year, unlike past years. Lol!To top it off, they send someone to your table to sing happy birthday to you in Italian. This guy was really good.
This photo is funny because that is actually Teri's piece of cake that they put the birthday candle on. I ordered the sorbet that is off to the side.
And here is the birthday card that Teri made for me. It is so darling! You have to see it IRL. It is a shaker card and she even decorated the inside of the card. This is a new GF stamp but it is so cute that she colored her hair pink. I got a bunch of gifts from her too. Thanks so much Teri for the best birthday lunch! If you get a chance, go check out her blog. She has so many creative ideas.
And I got a surprise treat from my gf Joy. She made this mini gable box for me with Fluer Anya from the GF and filled it with these beautiful flowers like the one she used on her hair.
Here's the card that Joy made for me using a stamp called popcorn bear and the inside had a treat for me from one of my favorite places I go to everyday. Go check out Joy's blog too because she's on a design team and she has so much creative energy! Thanks so much Joy for thinking of me on my birthday!
My daughter gave me this book along with a bunch of gifts this morning. I was caught by surprise when I opened the box because she sees me reading this blog every morning and I have been wanting to get this book. This woman, Pikko (Crystal) comes up with all these creative ideas on making bentos for lunch. I don't think I could even eat it after all the work she puts into making it.
Well, thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed reading this long post. Have a wonderful Monday!!!

Let's Chill

Hero Arts recently released new stamps for summer. I was able to get my hands on a couple of them. This cute girl is from the "Sending Smiles" clear set and "Let's Chill" is another new clear set. I actually planned for the colors on this card to be more pinks and blues but as it turned out, I ended up using yellow and red.
I used a Sizzix XL die to cut the card. It is called A2 card with circle 1 7/8". Paper is Hero Hues called Punch and my favorite background stamp called cling dots which I stamped with Memento Red. The punch is from EK Success called scallop daisy and lots of red gemstones.
Today is King Kam day in Hawaii and I hope you're all having a relaxing day. I'm meeting my GF Teri for some lunch and after that - shopping!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!!

Swiss Pixies Spring

When I first saw this stamp, I knew I had to get it. It reminded me of my younger days growing up on the windward side when my girlfriends and I would lay in the grass fields and giggle and talk. Back in the days, that's all it was in Kahaluu.
The stamps are from CC Designs. I paper pieced the dress and stamped the dress from a Hero Arts older background stamp.
The card background is embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder set called "floral flourishes and vines set". Border punch is from EK Success called daisy border.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a great evening!!!

Sorbet

I didn't get to do anything crafty this past weekend but I made this box last Friday. I was thinking of sorbet ice cream and decided to use those colors to make this heart box. I don't have a photo program yet so I used the one on my computer and the colors turned out quite bright. It is really a lot softer IRL. This Sizzix die is called "heart box and key" and it is an XL die. I embossed the heart with one of the new birthday embossing folders set.
And since I had this kitty lying around, I decided to put her on the box. The rose is also a leftover from the last paper party. I usually will keep my scraps but I do have my cleaning moments and end up throwing things out.
Hope your day is going great and thanks for stopping by today!!!
