Sushi shaker and gatefold tutorial

I've been having fun with Lawn Fawn's let it roll stamp set. Yesterday I made a shaker card using the sushi stamps and sequins from Doodlebug. I used scraps that I had lying around my craft table for the card base.
These colors make me happy!
I've had some requests for a tutorial on the card that I posted on the post below. So here goes and I hope I can explain it so you can follow along. I saw a video on Stephanie Barnard's you tube channel showing how she used a stand up die set called "elegant stand up"and made it into a gatefold card. This is what the die looks like.
Cut 2 pieces of card stock - 8 1/2" x 5 3/8". Place base die faced down on your cutting pad and weave the paper through the part of the die that has the part that will flip up. Make sure that you place the paper over the bottom of the die and not under because you don't want it to cut through where it supposed to cut. Instead, it will make a slight fold line. And make sure that you stop the opposite end of the paper where it supposed to make a score line. Do not go beyond that line. Center it well. Cut each piece separately. Do not cut both pieces together as it will cut through the scored part of the card.
This is what your cut piece will look like after you fold it on the fold line.

You can also use one of the die pieces to cut a piece of paper to layer on the side of the card.
Glue the 2 middle sections together, one piece on top of the other.
This is what makes the gatefold part. You can also decorate the inside of the card.
Here is how the card looks when you close it.
This is the finished card.
Email me if you have any questions. Hope you have fun making this card!!!
Have a great day!!!

Summer Fun

Today was our stamp group get together and it was my turn to do the make & take. I saw on one of Stephanie Barnard's videos that she made a gatefold card out of one of her stand up die sets and I thought I'd do that for the make & take.
I'm not sure why the photos are so bright but I've been noticing lately that when I post on blogger, my photos seem much brighter than it really is. I'll have to play around with it later.
I used Dandelion Designs aloha stamp set to make the card. Patterned paper is from Doodlebug Designs spring fling release.
Here is what the card looks like when it's opened.
And partially opened so you can see how it folds.
Well, today was really hot and muggy and the news said tomorrow will be the same. Hope you're enjoying your weekend and thanks for stopping by!!!

Let's roll

This is the first time that I have used Lawn Fawn stamps & die cuts and I really like the quality of their products. The only problem that I had initially was the stamp wasn't taking the ink so I had to lightly buff the stamp and then it worked.
Making this card helped me take my mind off of getting stuck in a really old elevator today. Ugh! Nothing worst than having to go looking for my shipments in a so called haunted basement. Very creepy and I'm not kidding!
Anyways, back to the card. I used Lawn Fawn "let's roll" stamp and die cut set and Mama Elephant dies to cut the card base.
I love using bright colors, makes me happy! Patterned paper is from My Minds Eye. I used copic markers to color the images. I'm surprised that I still have ink in the markers since its really been awhile that I have used them.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to keep up on my blogging!

Owl favor bag

While I was waiting for my husband to come home today, I decided to make something with one of the new die releases from Lori Whitlock for Sizzix. I used the owl favor bag die to make this. I thought it was going to take me longer to make it since there were quite a few pieces to cut, but it took me longer trying to figure out what papers to use and the colors to match it.
It's a really cute bag and I think this would look great in a Halloween theme or Christmas too. You can also use the owl face on a card front or scrapbook page.
I forgot to take a picture of the top of the bag so you can see how wide it is.
If you get a chance, go check out the new dies by Lori Whitlock.
Have a great day!!!

Make and take projects

Wow! I just realized that I haven't posted anything since May! And June has been quite a busy month for me. Well, my girlfriend Cheri from Sizzix was here and we had all these make & take projects at the stores. The first project we made at Stamps & Memories. It is the new Lori Whitlock gift card box die. It even comes with a separate gift card insert. The tag is a separate die called embossed gift tags which we used ink on the embossing folder and ran it through the big shot machine.
The second project was for Ben Franklin Crafts paper party that we were at yesterday. We used Lori Whitlock's sweet strawberry die set. There are a total of 18 dies in that set. So worth the price! We used the sweet dots embossing folder to emboss the paper and the flourish is a medium originals die. There is also a berry basket die that you can make to put all your strawberries in.
And lastly, we made a box at J's. We used the Lori Whitlock scalloped gable box die and the strawberry die from the sweet strawberry die set. The box is a good size to put goodies in. It was a sellout.
I took a selfie of us driving through Waikiki. We went shopping at the H & M store. We actually did a lot of shopping at many of the malls too. Lol!
It was a fun filled week and nice to see all the crafty ladies again. Oh and we did have a crafty guy too at one of our make & takes.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to make some new projects since I have a bunch of new dies to play with.

A watercolor card

Today I started off making a flip-it card, and somehow got distracted looking for paper to match and ended up making a watercolor card instead.
I used Elizabeth Craft Design's flower sticker and glitter and Hero Arts watercolor paper. Love this glitter because it doesn't flake off. I wanted to try these pens that I sell from Tombow called dual brush pens. They really are that good for watercoloring! I used Tim Holtz water brushes to blend the different color shades.
This is the first time I made a watercolor card. I was so impressed on how much water I used and the paper never warped. And the ECD glitter is amazing for watercolors. I know it's a little hard to see the glitter on my card but if you click on the picture, it should make the image bigger so you can see it.
Think I'll try some different methods of watercoloring during the Memorial Day weekend.
Have a great day!!!

Strawberry basket box card

I haven't used my Eclips machine in awhile, so I took it out the other day to make some box cards. I bought a file from SVG Cuts a couple weeks ago. Here's the strawberry basket box card that I made. I love how it folds flat so you can mail it.
The hardest part was trying to find paper to match all the colors that I wanted to use. These papers are from Kaisercraft.
These are all the pieces that I cut to assemble the card. It looks like a lot but it really isn't since the machine is cutting it out for you.
This is the box part of the card.
And here are all the inner pieces with the strawberries and flowers glued to it. The machine even cuts the numbers on the pieces so you know what order to put it together.
I stuck yellow gemstones in the center of the flowers. And here's the finished card!
This week was a little tough. My stepmother had been in and out of the hospital since March when she went into a diabetic coma. In April, she suffered a massive stroke and her right side of her body was paralyzed and she lost her vision in her right eye. Well, the doctor sent her home since there was nothing more that they could do for her. She lived for 2 weeks and passed away on Wednesday which is the same date that my dad passed away 5 years ago. Weird huh?
I have another box card that I made yesterday and will post it later so hope you stop by the blog again. Have a great weekend!!!

Kendama Boy

Hi, hope you're weekend is going great! I was downstairs in my craft room today breaking down boxes and putting samples away. I also got distracted and sat down for a moment to make a card using Dandelion Designs new Kendama stamp set. I colored him with my copics and I'm so glad that they are still working. A couple of them are dried up since I haven't colored in such a long time!
I decided to use a MS punch that I have for the background and I can't remember the name of the punch but this was the first time that I used the magnetic one. It was hard to get the circles even. Plus, you can't use a real heavy card stock to punch.
I can't believe how quick the days are flying by. Mother's Day will be here in a couple weeks.
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you have a great Sunday!!!

It musubi your day

During the week I received a package in the mail from Mama Elephant. I have to say, they are so quick with sending orders out and on time. Anyways, I was so excited to play with my new dies. I had a pile of scrap on my craft table so I just took from the pile instead of cutting up new paper. It's a vicious cycle. Lol!
I had just enough of that blue star paper from the project in the previous post. And I had this stamped Dandelion musubi image in the scrap pile. So I decided to make a shaker card using Doodlebug Designs sequins. It was quick and easy.
Hope your weekend is going well. I can't believe Easter is tomorrow. Enjoy your day and I have a bunch of eggs to boil! Happy Easter!!!

Happy Boy's Day favor box

Happy Good Friday!!! I just received this new box die from Sizzix today. It is from the newest release in the Where Women Cook line. Perfect size to package baked goods and pass out to family and friends.  It made me think of Boy's Day which is coming up in a couple weeks.
I used Doodlebug Designs card stock to make the box. And an older Sizzix tag die. I actually forgot that I had the matching Doodlebug baby stamp and die set so I was able to match the stamped monkey with the paper. The blue stars is the opposite side of the monkey paper.
Hope you're enjoying your holiday weekend! I forgot to mention, Happy Easter too!!!

Happy Birthday card

I wanted to share this birthday card that I made for my husband. Ssh... his birthday is on tax day and hopefully he won't see this.
I've had this screen door die for awhile. It's by Cheery Lynn Designs and even comes with the real screens. It was one of those impulse buys and then not knowing what I really wanted to make with it so I tossed it to the side and forgot about it for a year. And that's how long it took me to clean one of the piles behind my craft table.
I love this years Doodlebug Designs spring papers! They are so bright and cheery.
I used Taj Clubhouse stencils to make the cat and mouse and Lasting Impressions papers.
Stamped sentiment is by Hero Arts.
Well, I'm still working on my taxes and hopefully will be able to mail it in before the deadline. At least its a good reminder for my husband's birthday.
Have a great weekend!!!

You're so sweet!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! I totally forgot today was St. Patrick's Day and left the house wearing red and blue. Lol! Anyways, here's a card that I made over the weekend since I had these leftover scraps on my craft table.
I got this free cut file from Miss Kate's Cuttables. There is a freebie everyday on their website. This one is called bunny in egg. I used my Eclips machine to cut this out. I'm still amazed at how well it cuts out all the tiny little pieces. I've been using the same blade to cut many projects out and it's still cutting so smoothly.
The embossing folder is Eileen Hull's pinwheels and the stamp sentiment is also from Sizzix.
On my last post I said I was going to start scrapbooking again but I have yet to start on it. Everything is in a pile on my table. I have to print some photos first before I can start working on my pages. Hopefully soon!
Thanks for stopping by today and have a great week!!!

Happy Girl's Day card

Hi and happy Tuesday!!! I didn't realize that I last posted over a month ago. Wow! Anyways, I made a Girl's Day card today. I used the new Tim Holtz frameworks honeycomb die to make the cutouts. The stamps are from Dandelion Designs and they are the mini wood stamps. Real easy to color because they are so small.
Here's a picture of the Tim Holtz die that I used. They just arrived in the stores.
Well, I finally decided to try this out. I've been looking at the Snap collection every time I go to Ben Franklin Crafts and after seeing all my friend's albums, I thought I'd get back into scrapbooking. It's been so many years since I last scrapbooked my photos and I have all the supplies that I need. I also bought a bunch of 12x12 photo sleeves for Project Life.
Well, thanks for checking back here and I hope to start sharing my scrapbook pages soon!

Hello Kitty Happy Birthday Card

Hi and Happy New Year!!! Wow, its already the new year and I keep forgetting to write 2014 on my checks and my sales orders. Lol! My daughter's birthday is coming up in a couple days and so I went down to my craft room today to make her a birthday card. I just love this Sizzix circle flip-its #2 die. You can make quick and easy cards with this die and since she loves Hello Kitty, I took out one of my dies to make it.
The stamped birthday sentiment is from Hero Arts. It's an older clear set.
Now I have to figure out what to get her for her birthday!
Hope your holidays were merry and bright! Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Let it snow

Last year I didn't make any Christmas tags to put on gifts and I ended up using store bought ones, oh oh. So this year I decided to make a bunch of gift tags and use up paper that I have been hoarding for a long time! I used a Tim Holtz gift tag die to cut all the tags and a snowman die from last year. Love those steel ruled dies where I can cut through 6 layers at a time.
This is today's batch and I'll cut different ones tomorrow. I'm keeping it very simple.
I have quite a bit of Christmas dies to choose from. I'm hoping to make some cards too.
Thanks for stopping by and I do hope I get to finish the rest of my Christmas to do list!!!

Valentine's candy box/card

Seriously, I was all set to post this the other day and then my computer went wonky again. I could not get on the internet all day and night. I've been MIA for awhile and missed the whole month of November. My husband had eye surgery the end of October and I spent 3 weeks driving him around everyday and it was rough getting anything done. So glad he is much better now.
So here is a candy box/card that I made to give to the ladies in the stamp club group that I belong to. I got this cut file from Eunice who has a blog called "a star for chiemi". Go and visit her, she is amazing! I used my Eclips machine to cut this out. The dog and cat are stencils from Taj Clubhouse. I believe it's one of their latest releases.
I kept this simple since I was running out of time to finish it. And would you believe that this is not the initial idea? I actually tore off everything on Monday and redid it all.
Hopefully I can start working on my Christmas cards and tags that I need to finish.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to post some Christmas projects soon!!!

Halloween treats

Happy Halloween!!! Just a quick post about these easy Halloween treats that I made the other day. I finally bought the WeR Memory Keepers envelope punch board last weekend and saw this treat holder idea on Pinterest and ended up making a bunch of them for the ladies at my doctor's office. It's a great way to use up those leftover scraps!
The stamps are from Hero Arts Halloween "ink & stamp"set. I used a bunch of punches for the circles and scallops.
By the way, after I saw Joy from The Joy of Crafting making envelopes last week, it sparked my interest to get one of these tools!
Anyways, hope you all had a great Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween treats

I spent this past weekend cutting out boxes on my Eclips machine. The albums, bags and boxes cartridge is probably my most used cartridge. Since I had this Taj bunny stencil out, I decided to use it to decorate the boxes. I know, crazy that I actually sat there and embossed and cut all the pieces out by hand.
I stamped the background with a Hero Arts clear bat stamp from last year and VersaMark ink.
And while I was cleaning out my craft room, I found this spooky picket fence punch that I forgot I had.  If you read to the end of this post, you will see why I had to clean my craft room.
I love how well my new iPhone takes great photos.
So, two weeks ago, our downstairs flooded. Actually, I've been smelling this strange sewage smell for awhile now and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Several months ago, the downstairs bathroom had a lot of water on the floor and it kept getting worst. It wasn't coming from the toilet so I knew the toilet wasn't plugged. It was dirty water coming out from the wall. I had told the property manager about it but he told me to just monitor it. Well, I went to put something in the bedroom part of the downstairs and found water and dirt all over the carpet.
The plumber finally came and went under the house to check the pipes. The long pipe from the kitchen sink was the reason for the flood. Because the pipes are so old, it actually corroded and broke off. Which explained the smell and water and dirt in the bedroom and bathroom floors. This had been going on for months and we had no idea! All those months of cooking and washing dishes made it worst. The plumber said that we would of never known the pipe broke unless we crawled under the house.
So, this is how I spent the last couple weeks. I had to move everything out of the bedroom into my craft room all by myself. Fun!
And since I had been doing that, I decided to clean my craft room at the same time. Organizing and purging old catalogs and samples and craft stuffs. So glad that everything is now fixed and the smell is gone and I can go back to crafting again.
Thanks for sticking with me here and hope you're having a great work week!!!

Sizzix square accordion fold card

I just picked up this new Sizzix die - square accordion fold card from the store last weekend and finally had the chance to make something with it and use the magnetic platform for the first time. I am so impressed how strong the magnet is on the platform. I used another stencil from Taj that I bought when I bought the panda bear couple weeks ago. This one is a hula bunny but I decided to make it without the skirt.
The stamp sentiment is also from Taj. And the ladybug is a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
I know I haven't been posting much lately but by the time I get home, I am so tired that I can't even get myself motivated to make anything. My body is still adjusting to all the medication that I have to take and one of the side effects is, feeling very tired.
Thanks for stopping by today and hope to be back real soon!
