Hello Kitty and tutorial number 2

Here is the 2nd tutorial using the same scallop envelope die from yesterdays post. This time I used the Hello Kitty embosslit die to decorate the box.I stamped the background paper with the Hero Arts houndstooth stamp. And the border punch is another MS punch that I bought from Ben Franklin Crafts.This box is skinnier and I stuck a post it note pad inside the box. You can put a bag of hershey candy bars inside this box. Here's the tutorial to make this box.Step 1: Cut 2 pieces of cardstock using the SU scalloped envelope die.
Step 2: Cut off 3/4" on the bottom of both pieces. I took the photo this way so you can see where I cut the piece off. Step 3: Put 2 way tape on both of the tab sides and also 2 strips on the bottom of the envelope die piece. You only have to put the 2 way tape on one of the pieces. Once again I used Score Pal tape to hold the pieces together. If you get a chance, try this tape out. You won't be disappointed.

Step 4: Join the 2 bottom pieces together matching it up at the score line.
Step 5: Join the sides together and you're done! Wasn't that quick and easy?
And since I was using purple cardstock to make this tutorial, I decided to finish decorating my box.
I used that houndstooth stamp again for my background paper. It's becoming another one of my favorite stamps to use right now.

Hello Kitty in a bunny costume and a tutorial

This past Christmas, my gf Teri gave me a SU scallop envelope die as one of my gifts. I had wanted this die since it first came out and saw many cards made with it. Over the weekend I finally got the chance to play with the die. And I made this box and put some goodies in it.I love the new Sizzix Hello Kitty spring dies and of course the MS fence punch that I bought from Ben Franklin Crafts. I know, I keep posting projects made with HK dies but I love Hello Kitty!!! Here's a short tutorial on how I made this box (I'm still new at doing tutorials):Step 1: Die cut 2 envelopes from the scallop envelope die. Cut a strip of cardstock at 1 1/2" wide by 7 3/4" long. Score at 2 1/4" and 5 1/2".Step 2: Place 2 way tape on the sides of both envelope pieces and on the bottom of one of the envelope pieces. I used Score Pal tape because it's stickier tape and holds very well. It's my favorite tape to use now.Step 3: Ok, my hands were getting shaky at about this time because the Starbucks coffee was taking effect. Place the bottom of the taped piece over the bottom of the piece that doesn't have tape. Like in the photo.Step 4: Place tape on the strip of cardstock between the 2 scored lines. Actually you could probably place tape along the whole strip of cardstock and eliminate the tabbed pieces on the side of the envelope. But this is the way that I initially did the box.

Step 5: This is how the box looks like before you embellish it. You can also add a handle to it or fold the flaps down and make it look more like a rectangle box.

Tic tac kitty bag

Couple weeks ago, I bought a bag of tic tacs from Pricebusters because I had this idea that I wanted to try. Well, as it turned out, I never got quite that far. Yesterday I found some die cuts that I had cut awhile ago and decided to use it. This bag is from the Cricut cartridge tags, bags, and boxes. The tic tacs fit perfectly in the bag.I used the new Hello Kitty w/bees, flowers and ladybugs die to decorate the bag. I added some Doodlebug frills for the grass and Offray ribbon for the handles.

My daughter is funny because she sees me making all these Hello Kitty projects everyday and today she finally asked me, what do I do with all the samples that I make? Well, I told her that they actually end up at the store. Ha!

Kathy bunny box

I spent couple hours yesterday doing a make & take at Ben Franklin Craft's Paa St. store for their once a year paper party celebration. So nice to see all the customers who come to have fun and make crafts all day. And next month, I'll be at the Enchanted Lake store doing another make & take for their paper party celebration.

All that excitement from yesterday put me in the mood to make something today. I picked up one of the new Hello Kitty deco strip dies during the week and used it to decorate another box. Since Easter is coming up, I decided to use Kathy bunny for the box.

I haven't used glitter in awhile so I thought Kathy would look real cute all glittered up.
I should of took a photo of the top of the box so you can see that it really is a cover. You can put so many different things in this box since it's a pretty good size.

Sizzix Hello Kitty w/Kathy & flowers deco strip, Sizzix Hello Kitty ribbons deco strip, Spellbinders tags die, Sizzix petal card die, Hero Arts gemstones, ribbon, glitter and Bazzill cardstock.

The box tutorial

Hey, thanks for being so patient with me. I have never done a tutorial before but I've had quite a few requests for the cute little box I made the other day. So here goes...Step 1: Cut out 2 pieces of Sizzix XL box #2
Step 2: Place the 2 pieces back to back overlapping only the flap part of the box. Place a Spellbinders petite oval small die in the center where the flap is supposed to bend over. But don't bend the flap. It is better to cut the 2 pieces together so the oval is centered so when you attach both boxes together, it matches. This photo should be vertical but it keeps posting horizontal.
Step 3: Here are what the 2 pieces should look like.
Step 4: Assemble the 2 boxes but do not bend the top flap over. Put two way tape under the 2 little flaps on the sides to hold it down in the box.
Step 5: Place two way tape on the backside of one of the boxes in these areas so it holds both boxes together.
Step 6: Place the 2 boxes back to back. And you are done. It's very fast to make this box.

Card swap for Michelle

Here is the card that I made for my partner Michelle for Teri's one card swap. She loves Hello Kitty too! I used the new Sizzix Hello Kitty in bunny costume sizzlit die to make this card. I also used 2 different Sizzix textured impressions folders for the backgrounds. The 3 dotted folder is not out in the stores yet but hopefully will be soon. Well, I hope she liked the card and I really enjoyed making it for her. She's such a sweet person.

Oh and regarding the box I did on the post before this, I will try and see if I can post pictures on how I made the box. I have never done step by step instructions before so this will be a little challenging for me.

Hippity, hoppity

Yesterday was one of those Mondays where you take care of all the customer service issues for accounts. It all does work out well in the end. I did a bunch of errands in the afternoon and now I have to make the time to work on our taxes. Yep, it's that dreaded time again!

Other than that, I saw this cute box somewhere on the internet and I can't remember where I saw it but I ended up making one.Just pretend there are easter eggs in that grass. I was so excited on Saturday when I stopped at Ben Franklin Crafts and saw this MS picket fence punch and I had my 40% coupon to use. I love this punch! And this one actually punches through cardstock. I have others that won't punch through cardstock. I also picked up some other new styles that they had in the store.

Back to the box, I used the new Easter stamps from Dandelion Designs. I don't know how Jean cuts out all her little images but I really had to use a magnifiying glass to color and cut. Haha!Here's what the box looks like side view. The other side is the same as the front of the box. Too cute yea? That little scallop is a Spellbinders petite scallop oval that I picked up from my husband's store. It was the perfect size to fit on the box.

Card swap rak and J's make and take

Wow!!! That was the first thing I said when I opened my card from Michelle, who was my partner in Teri's card swap for March. My husband brought it home since she didn't think it would be a good idea to mail it. I'm glad it didn't come in the mail because it would of gotten squashed. I love this card!!! Thanks so much Michelle!!! See that little kitty in the shaker box? Well, I kept looking at it when I got it because I couldn't tell if it was shrink art or if it was stamped and cut out. Anyways, it's way too cute and I love Hello Kitty!

Tomorrow, I'll post the card that I made for Michelle. So stay tuned.

This past Saturday I did a make & take at my husband's store. I was quite surprised with the huge turnout since Saturday was very rainy and cold and there were so many things going on the same day at the same time. But everyone had fun and I'll be seeing them again this coming Saturday at Ben Franklin Crafts paper party being held at the Mapunapuna store.

Here's a picture of the make & take we did. We covered a Necco candy box with the new Hello Kitty Easter bunny ears die.

We used 3 different Sizzix dies that was just released for April's spring release. The cute pink trim is a deco strip die called trimmings. The little chick is from the bunnies & chicks sizzlit die.

Another card from scraps

I'm really enjoying using the Hello Kitty embosslits from Sizzix to make cards. They are so easy to use! I picked up one of the new spring dies that just arrived in the store last week. This one is called Hello Kitty w/bonnet. It's much bigger than the ones that were released for March. As you can see, this one cuts out and embosses the flower wreath and the kitty with the bonnet. If you look closely, this is an acetate card. The flower wreath is on the acetate and the Hello Kitty is under the acetate and attached to the white textured embossed card. I tied both together with a sheer ribbon. You can probably see it better in this photo.
I finally finished my card swap card last week and my partner should be getting it sometime this week. I still have to post the card that I received and all I can say is that it made my jaw drop! I hope to have it up tomorrow.

Sitting kitty box

I've been meaning to use this die called decorative doily since before Valentine's day. And last night I sat down and played with it. I know, it's another kitty die again.

I made a slit at the top of the box and stuck the decorative doily piece through it to use as a handle for the box. The box was made with a 8 1/2 x 11 size cardstock. You can see part of the handle through the window. I filled the box with Easter candy and some shreds. This sitting kitty die is just too cute! I'm loving the new size of these Hello Kitty dies. I'm so glad it's Friday and the weekend!

Hello Kitty paper towel holder

Today is my son's birthday and I didn't get a chance to buy him a birthday card (shame on me), so I made him one. Him and Grover go way back. I saw this stamp at my husband's store and I had to get it. He'll get a laugh out of this card. Besides, the gift will be in it.
And I know you're wondering about my title but it was the first thing that came to my mind when I tried to take this photo of the banner that I made.I couldn't think of a way to get this banner to stand up so I stuck it in the paper towel roll. Genius huh?

Here's a closer look of the banner. This die is actually called Mimmy. I never heard of her but I guess she's Hello Kitty's twin.
