Blue & orange

I wasn't able to post yesterday so here I am today with Tuesday's complementary colors from the Hero Arts blog. Once again I used the houndstooth stamp for my background. Not sure why this picture came out so grainy. Sorry but it didn't look like that when I fixed it. All the other stamps are from the Ink & Stamp sets, Cute Critters and Original Mix. Scallop border is a Hello Kitty border die set.I love that thought bubble punch! I think I'm getting carried away using it. Come back tomorrow and I'll have Wednesday's colors which are purple and yellow.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!!

Black & white

On the Hero Arts blog this week, they are going over complementary colors from the color wheel. Monday's color was black and white. I have never tried anything like this before but thought I'd give it a shot. I actually had this card and the trimmings tossed on the side because I was planning to use it for something else but I decided to use this to make my card.
I used the screen shadow stamp for the circle, houndstooth stamp for the border, word stamp is from the Ink & Stamp party set and the cute little puppy in the present is from an older stamp set I saw at the store. This was actually fun and there was no coloring involved.
Supplies:
Hero Arts screen shadow, houndstooth, Ink & stamp party set, puppy stamp, circle & circle scallop nesties, swiss dots folder, Fiskars upper crest punch, Offray ribbon and Stickles gg.
Hope you're having a great humpday and thanks for stopping by today!

Say hello to Max

Here's the other half of the card from yesterday's post. These are 2 of the new Dandelion stamps that were just released. Max is holding a card and I figured that the word stamp just went with the Max stamp. I stamped the card with that Hero Arts woodgrain background stamp again. I love that stamp!!! I embossed with clear embossing powder just to give it a sutle effect. The tag is a new die from Sizzix called tag #2 and I stamped the tag with Hero Arts dots and flowers background stamp.
As I was coloring Max, he started to get darker and darker and was not turning out to be the color that I wanted. But I didn't want to stamp, color and cut another image.
I'm finally starting to scrapbook again. I have so many photos to scrap and it's another thing piling up in my craftroom.
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you're having a great Tuesday!!!

A chick with no name

I was thinking of that song "A horse with no name" by America which is how I got the title for this post. I asked Jean for the name of this chick stamp and she said she didn't have one.
Anyways, she's all dolled up for a day at the beach. The coconut tree is a Sizzix Hello Kitty die that was just released last month. I embossed the tree trunk with the wood grain folder and I couldn't believe that I found that thought bubble punch in my drawer. Its a real old punch from EK Success that was one of my samples when I used to rep that line. I'm not sure if they even make that punch anymore.Well, hope you all had a great Father's day yesterday. I spent the day with my husband since he's a daddy too. Thanks for stopping by today and I'll have another sample tomorrow using up the other half of this card.

Relax, it's only Elliot

I couldn't resist making something with Jean's new Elliot stamp. Plus I wanted to play with my new Copics that I bought the other day. Finally got my hands on some gray pens.Just stamping with this stamp makes me feel relaxed.
Once again I dug in my stash of scraps to make this card. I had stamped that orange houndstooth background on a piece of scrap for something else and ended up not using it. So this time it was perfect with the die I wanted to use. The white circle is the middle of the flower tag die. I used a Fiskars 2" circle punch for the blue circle. I bought that from Ben Franklin Crafts. I like it better than the Marvy punch.
Supplies:
Sizzix flower tag die, Fiskars 2" circle punch, Slice flower die, Dandelion Designs Elliot and word stamp, Hero Arts houndstooth stamp, Offray ribbon, Stickles gg, and Worldwin doublemates cs.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a relaxing weekend!!!

Watermelon smiles

Yesterday's post I said I was going to make something with the die that Teri gave me for my birthday. Well, I went to Hawaiian Graphics earlier to pick up some Copics since they were on sale and ended up taking out some new Dandelion's stamps to play with. These 2 stamps are Jean's latest creations. Sorry the photo is so bad but it really is cute IRL and I used raspberry colored cs to make the box. I glittered the watermelon with stickles glitter glue. I'll be playing with more of the new stamps over the weekend and hopefully get to post them too.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend everyone!!!

What a treat!!!

On Monday, my gf and bsf Teri took me to lunch to celebrate my birthday. We do this every year when it comes to our birthdays. I was so surprised with all the leopard print gifts that I received from her. Jut too cute! This card that she made me is so adorable!!! I really love it, thanks so much Teri!!! You can check it out on her blog too. Here's a pretty black box that she found at Ross's and she covered the lid with the same leopard print theme and using my favorite Hello Kitty die cut. Kitty looks so cute in leopard. I also got a leopard jewelry box and a SU XL die from her. I'm so excited and look forward to making something with the die real soon.
Here we are after eating our lunch and asking the waiter to take our photo. This is the 3rd photo he took of us because for some reason, he must of thought we wanted that big screen to be the focal point of the photo. And I'm not sure why we have glittery hair. LOL!
Thanks so much for such a great lunch Teri!!! And if you like to eat dim sum, check out Royal Garden at the Ala Moana Hotel.
Hope you're all having a great Thursday and thanks for stopping by!!!

My birthday...

Sunday was my birthday and we spent the day riding our bikes in Kailua. It was a very hot day and little did we know that there was a big canoe race over at Kailua Beach Park. So, of course parking was a problem. We circled all over the streets near the beach and nothing. We ended up parking at a park next to Times Supermarket which was fine since we could ride our bikes to the beach. Then the kickstand on my bike broke off. So everywhere we stopped, I had to lay my bike down on the ground. Here we are on our way to the beach park. That's the bridge to go to the beach park.
We rode our bikes to Lanikai. That's my husband pointing out this huge mansion in Lanikai. I can't imagine what it is like to clean that house.

Here's a photo of the canoes and all the people at the beach.

They even had a kiawe grill going and you could smell it from far away.
Here's my husband nursing his sore hand from hitting the coconut tree after I asked him to jump so I could take a jumping photo of him. Of course I never got the jumping photo of him. LOL! And look at his cute basket on his bike. This is in case we stop somewhere and I end up buying something.
So, this was me and my bike everytime we stopped. Remember, my kickstand broke off from the start of the bike ride.
We ended up eating lunch at California Pizza Kitchen in Kailua town. This was after we rode our bikes from Lanikai to Enchanted Lake. I wanted to go to Ben Franklin Crafts.
And I always have to take a photo of us in the car. That's my husband making that same funny smile everytime I try to take a photo of us.
Just wanted to share my special day with you. Sorry this was not a crafty post. Thanks for stopping by and have a great humpday!!!

You're special

I've had this Penny Black elephant stamp like forever and have never inked it up. My daughter gave it to me after she bought it and decided that she didn't need it. I wanted to color it grey but that is one of the many Copics colors that I still need to add to my collection. Besides, pink is my most favorite color.I actually embossed the background on the white cardstock with Hero Arts new woodgrain stamp and white embossing powder. You can really see and feel the woodgrain. I even put glitter glue on her pink toemails.
I don't know why this photo is coming out sideways but you can see the texture in the woodgrain. The "you're special" is another little stamp from one of the ink & stamps from Hero Arts.
Well, tomorrow is my birthday and my husband actually took the day off to spend it with me. We're going to ride out bikes and get some exercise and hopefully eat cake too.
Thanks for stopping by and hope your weekend is full of fun!

Piece of the pie

I was thrilled when I first found out that Sizzix was coming out with a pie box die to use with your Big Shot. It's a perfect size to fit all kinds of goodies.
I used the new Sizzlit set, flowers, branch and leaves to decorate my box. Stamp is from Hero Arts from one of the ink & stamp sets and I used nesties label 4.
If you're going to make this pie box, use a stiffer, thicker cardstock so the pie box holds its shape. I used Worldwin doublemates cardstock. It's 2 cardstocks glued together and you're getting 2 different shades of color.
I had no idea today was a state holiday. It seems so odd when it doesn't fall into the weekend. Early this morning we went walking at Ala Moana beach park and the parking was getting pretty tight.
Well, thanks for stopping by today and hope you're enjoying all the sunshine we are having.

Feeling pink

I was in a pink mood today and I've been wanting to use this ladybug die since I've had it for awhile now. All the Sizzix dies used to make this card are new for this year except the swiss dots embossing folder. I cut the card using the XL card, scallop #2 die. Then I glittered the inside of the card with Doodlebug pink glitter. The hearts on the ladybug is red glitter. The photo is a little dark so the glitter on the hearts looks dark. After I was done, there was glitter all over the place. As much as I love glitter on my cards, I don't like having glitter all over my carpet and table.
Supplies:
Sizzix XL card, scallop #2 die, ladybug die, flourish #2 die, and flower layers #3 die.
Well, tomorrow is our anniversary and we made plans to have dinner at Morton's Steakhouse. My husband is so funny because he can't remember the date of our anniversary and my birthday which is coming up this month too. I have to remind him every year. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by and hope you're all having a great evening!

Smirk

I recently got a new company to rep and when I saw the stamp samples, I just had to make something. And I wanted to see the quality of the stamps. It's called "Smirk". The images remind me of stick people without faces. Anyways, this line came out of the UK and is now being sold in the US. This started off as a card but ended up becoming a tag. LOL! I just didn't know what to do with it.The papers in this line are the cutest!!! I'm so glad that the tradewinds are back. Last week was so uncomfortable especially if you don't have ac in your house. That's probably why I hardly went downstairs to my craft room. BTW, if you enjoy watching Augie T, the segment airs this Sunday on The Joy of Crafting tv show on OC16. I posted about it here.

Well, thanks for stopping by and hope you're all having a great weekend!!!

Quick, easy thank you card

Here I am again using up scraps from my stash to make a very quick thank you card without stamps or diecuts. This card is made out of a Sizzix embossing folder. I tried to get a better photo of the card but this was the best I could do.I used a white Bazzill cardstock for the card which I cut 5 1/2" x 9 1/2" and folded in half. The Sizzix folders are a little bigger than an A2 size card so I had to cut the card base to fit the folder.

Step 1:Run your cardstock and embossing folder through the Big Shot machine. Also, using your scraps, run the colors you want to use for your flowers through the machine.

Step 2: This is what you should end up with. You can use other colors for each flower or 1 main color, but you will need to emboss enough flowers for each different flower on the card.

Step 3: Using a Tsukineko VersaMark ink pad, gently rub across the embossed images on your cardstock. This will deepen the color and make the embossed images pop.

Step 4: Using your scissors, cut out each flower for the card.

Step 5: Attach each flower to the card using a pop dot to give it dimension. You can also punch out a border like I did for the bottom of the card and attach a ribbon. I used Hero Arts bling for the centers of each flower. I applied Stickles glitter glue over the Thank You.

And there you have it! Thanks for stopping by today and hope you get a chance to make a quick and easy card using up your scraps.
