Happy New Years!!!

I finally have my new computer up and running and can now post to this blog. I didn't know how so many programs that I had on my old computer was not compatible with Windows Vista 64. I think I have been to Best Buy everyday since Christmas buying something else that I need to work with this computer. And today, I tried to load some photos from my Canon Rebel and it wouldn't work. So, I made another trip to Best Buy to get one more thing that would get my photos to load. Hmpff...
Anyways, I wanted to share this gift card holder that I made for Teri for Christmas.

The 3 dotted red background was made using the new Sizzix embossing folder. I love how deep the embossing shows up on the cardstock. All stamps are Hero Arts.

I've been busy working on some projects for another tv show taping for the Joy of Crafting. This will be the first "live"show taping and I'm getting a bit nervous since we will have an audience this time.

Hope you're all having a great New Year's eve! See you in '09!

Still Sewing...

I'm still playing with my new little mini Janome sewing machine. I made another card a couple weeks ago. This time I tried the zig zag stitch.I tried to take a photo of it as close as I could. I used all Hero Arts stamps for this card. That lacy border punch is another Martha punch that I bought. The snowman is cut out and mounted on the card to give a little dimension.I finally worked on our Christmas cards yesterday, and this year I went real simple. The only thing that took time was embossing the word Merry Christmas. So, now I am off to the post office to drop these in the mail. Thanks for stopping by today and hope you're all having a great holiday season!

Tis the season to be jolly...

I keep meaning to take out all my Christmas cd's but as usual, I forget to do it. I'm almost done with my shopping and I still haven't decided what to buy my hubby. He's a tough person to buy for. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment here because I need all the help I can get.
And before I even forget why I started this post, the winner of my giveaway is:

If you asked me a few months ago, I would have said cards, but since most of my stamping friends like to make "stuff", I guess I'm moving more towards gift items. Congratulations on your 100th post!!!

Congrats Fay!!! Can you email me your address?
I'll be back tomorrow with another card that I made. Sorry this post has no photos but the weather hasn't been allowing any sun into my house so I can take some photos. Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

There's still time

I haven't been very consistant in keeping up with this blog with all the daily work stuff that I do and I will pull a winner this Friday for my giveaway from last week. If you haven't posted a comment, you still have time here. The date on that post is wrong so don't look at the date.
I'm leaving shortly to do a make-it take-it at a new store in downtown Honolulu called "Crafts In The City". It's right on Bishop St. next to Starbucks (I think).
Here's a quick gift card that I made to send to a friend on the mainland.
I embossed the holly flourish background with clear embossing powder. It's hard to tell from this photo. I love this cute little frog from Hero Arts.
That's not really the gift card that I'm sending but it's just to show you where it goes on the inside of the card.
Well, hope you are having a great humpday!!!

Do you ever get...

One of those days, where you are searching for something and you go through everything, and still can't find it??? And then you try to think back on the last time you had it in your hands and where would you put it? Ugh! That was me today. And guess what? It was sitting there right in front of me all this time, in the same little white package that my husband brought it home in couple months ago. The stack of clear stamps... While I was at it, I found a bag of Stickles that I forgot I bought from the store also a couple months ago.
Moving on, here's a card I made last weekend using the Spellbinders label one nesties. Very simple and quick card.

I cut the cardstock out of the Sizzix vertical card die which is kit #2 and embossed it with the snowflakes folder and stamped it with a Dandelion stamp. I glittered Maddie's clothes and used liquid pearls on the white parts of her clothes.
I'm hoping to start some of my Christmas shopping this weekend but we'll see how far I actually get. Thanks for stopping by and happy Friday!

Peek-a-boo

I have been waiting anxiously for my Janome mini machine to arrive and it finally came on Saturday! I found out about this machine from my gf Jen's blog. Although I have a Bernina and a Viking, I really didn't want to be running upstairs everytime I wanted to sew on a card. So this machine came in handy. And the best part is that it doesn't take up much room and is very lightweight. I took out this new Sizzix XL die called peek-a-boo windows and made this card. The windows flap open and theres a message underneath each window. It's so cute! The bottom flap has a photo of our grandson Zack.
You can see in this photo how the windows flap open. I was having a hard time taking one of them all open so you can see the message but the card is at the store and you can check it out there.
Hey, thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a great day!

Punch me, Martha

LOL! I don't know why that title popped in my head but it did. I went a little punch crazy making these tags. Last week, my friend Dawne dropped off some coupons for Ben Franklin Crafts 40% off sale and I ended up buying some Martha punches. The big snowflake is a Marvy punch and the little one is a Martha. I glittered both of them and added blingy brads. See that star border, I don't know why I bought it but it turned out really cool. Overall, I got to use up a lot of scraps. Here's a Christmasy card that I made several weeks ago. I had stamped and colored that owl awhile ago but never used it. And I wanted to make something out of the new curvy rectangles from Spellbinders, so I ended up with this.
I saw this on Jen M's blog and wanted to make one using the Hero Arts holly flourish background stamp. If you look closely, I embossed the holly flourish with clear embossing powder. And of course, I had to use some Dandelion stamps to finsh it.
The tag is a Spellbinders shapeabilities tag which I got from the store. Well, I'll be back later with some other cards that I made. Thanks for stopping by!

So What

I bought this cd on Sunday. I'm loving it right now and it's pink.
And yesterday, I played with new dies from Spellbinders and made another Just Rite card.
This cute birdie stamp is from Hero Arts and it's from one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets this year. This card has quite a bit of layers. I used liquid pearls on the rim of the hat to make it look fluffy like cotton.
I made the turquoise scallop using my new Slice machine. It kind of looks like a big flower. The red pinking circle is a new Spellbinders die and the stamp is from Just Rite Stampers.
This deer is also in the same Christmas set as the birdie. I stamped the snowflakes with Encore silver ink and the red pinking circle is from Spellbinders.
And lastly, a red gemstone on Rudolph's nose. Thanks for stopping by and how was your Veteran's Day?

Kind of chilly today

Is it just me or is the air kind of cool today. Well, the week went by so fast that I almost forgot to pull a winner for the stamp set. Anyways, the winner of the Sparkly Clear stamp set is... Joy!

I gave in

I really didn't want to buy another snowman stamp, but... I did. Yup, it was too cute to resist.
Every year the folks at Hero Arts come up with the cutest stamps. Actually, I had a different card in mind when I used my Just Rite stamp for the circle border. I had such a hard time stamping this other image in the middle that I gave up and went for the snowman.
And the cap should of matched the scarf but, I was drinking Starbucks coffee while attempting to make this card and there was no way I could of drawn in black lines on the little ole cap with a shaky hand.
Don't forget to enter your name on the post below for the cute little stamp set.
Have a great day!!!

For the first time...

I voted today. Can you believe that I have never voted before and today was the first. I haven't been keeping up with all the local politicians so I actually had a hard time filling out my ballot. Then I went to Starbucks and they gave me a free cup of joe.
The rest of my afternoon was spent playing with some new product. First, the Slice machine. It took me awhile trying to figure out how to go through all the icons on the card and when I did figure it out, I had to laugh at myself. Duh...need to press the small arrows to go through all the icons. I did cut out different sized shapes but I'll have to make something with it another day.
Then I took out my Just Rite samples and made a card with one of the big wooden stampers. I love how all these stamps fit in the Spellbinders dies perfectly and you can cut the different shapes out after you stamp it. Here's a card that I made.
I embossed the background with the Christmas ornaments embossing folder from Cuttlebug. The stamp is from Just Rite and I cut it out with the Spellbinders classic circle. The red circle frame behind that is the Hello Kitty die frame. And santa is from the new Sizzix Sizzlit Christmas set. The red bling is Hero Arts.Notice how big the stamp is from Just Rite? There's more sayings in the set and I'll be making cards to show you. Then I used a new XL die from Sizzix and made a favor box to hold treats.
This is the new box with tab die. I embossed the front with a Cuttlebug snowflake folder. And punched out a snowflake and poured chunky white glitter on it to look like snow. The stamp is from Hero Arts.
The glitter looks better in this photo. I got the glitter from the store. I actually like it better. It's easier to clean up chunky glitter than the ultra fine type that I normally use on my projects. The side of the box has a pleat which I didn't take a photo of but if you want to buy this die, just ask for the box with tab.
Well, hope you all voted today and thanks for stopping by to visit. Leave me a comment and I'm going to give away this cute clear stamp set. I think it's supposed to be a ladybug. I'll draw a winner before the weekend.

The last one

Well, this week Saturday is my last make-it take-it for Ben Franklin Crafts on the Hello Kitty dies. I will be at the Market City store from 10-12 pm. Hope you can make it. Please don't forget to bring a scissors if you can. We are making a Hello Kitty box project this week and it's really cute! Sorry I don't have any pictures to post tonight but I do have some projects that I made and just haven't gotten around to taking the pictures. Very hectic work week but I will post them as soon as I can. Hope to see you all on Saturday!

A new toy and another kitty weekend

I got one of these delivered from the Fed Ex man last week, and I have yet to play with it. Hopefully, I will get a chance this weekend.
Also, just a reminder that this Saturday the 25th, I will be doing another Hello Kitty make-it take-it at Ben Franklin Crafts Kailua from 10-12 pm. While supplies last. *Please bring a scissors if you can.
Here's a card that I made using a Dandelion Halloween stamp and some Cuttlebug folders.
I glittered Maddy's hat and dress and also her ladybug friend's outfit too. This is the Hello Kitty tag from the make-it take-it 2 weeks ago at the Ben Franklin Crafts Mapunapuna store.
The kits were gone in no time and everyone had fun making their tags.

This card was from last week Saturday's make-it take-it at Ben Franklin Crafts Pearl City. This card took a little longer but everyone did so well making their cards. And the flowers in the background were all outlined with a Versa Mark pen, which is why it took a little longer making the card.

And lastly, here's a couple of new Sizzix dies that I used to decorate this paint can. The frame is brand new and one of my favorites so far and the reindeer is from a new Sizzlet Christmas set that we just received in the store.
Wow! This post turned out to be a lot longer than I usually make it. It's easier for me to post weekly than daily. Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you on Saturday.

Sweet treats and more kitty's

I saw a really cute box on Fay's blog the other week and decided to try something similar since I have an old Sizzix die that is a scallop envelope. I wanted to make some for Halloween to give to some office people.I cut the box out of Worldwin Treasures cs and used an old Kangaroo & Joey paper that I found the other day while going through my paper rack. The tag is from the Spellbinders shapeabilities line and of course the stamps are from Dandelion Designs. I took this photo in the late evening and the colors came out much brighter than I wanted. The cat is really colored in grey but came out looking white in the photo. It looks much better IRL. I hope I don't get tempted to eat all the chocolates that I bought for these boxes. LOL!
This is a gift card holder that I made with my Cricut machine. I used the butterfly kitty die and Bazzill cs. Once again the colors in the photo are a little off.
I also made one using Halloween colors, black and orange. I embossed the holder with a Cuttlebug folder. Can't seem to remember the name of the folder.
Anyways, I am doing a Hello Kitty make-it take-it this week Saturday the 18th at Ben Franklin Crafts Pearl City from 10-12 pm or while supplies last. This weeks make-it take-it is a card and you really don't want to miss this one. It is sooo cute! BTW- if you can, bring your own scissors since there will be some cutting and I'm not sure what kind of scissors the store has for class use.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Mizz Kitty on a favor box

Hey peeps! Don't forget, tomorrow I'll be at the Ben Franklin Crafts - Paa St. store from 10-12 pm doing a Hello Kitty make-it take-it. And, tomorrow is also 40% coupon day so you might be able to score some dies with your coupon.
Here's a sample that I made the other day.

I used the Sizzix XL favor box die and the Hello Kitty sitting die for this sample. I also changed her overalls to look like a dress and of course used glitter on her dress and hair bow. The flower and vine is also a Hello Kitty die.

The bling is a Hero Arts gemstone. Ok, I've been making a lot of Hello Kitty cards lately with all the new dies and it's been fun but I think I need a little break from that since I will be doing make-it take-its at all the Ben Franklin Stores this month.
Have a great weekend and hope to see you tomorrow!

Ho, ho, reindeer

On Saturday, I had plans to prep all the Hello Kitty kits for the make-it take-its that I have scheduled this month at all the Ben Franklin stores. And I really do cut all the pieces for the projects with my Big Shot machine, one by one. While I was working on that, I also made this door hanger with couple of the new Sizzix dies that just came out in the stores. This is the cute reindeer die that was just released. I covered him with the santa suit die. The door hanger was from my gf Jean, and I covered it with Lasting Impressions cs. All the white parts are cut from felt and I put black gemstones from Hero Arts on his suit.
I made the sign with Jean's new Christmas stamps and cut it out with my megabilities dies. The tree brad is from Hero Arts. I also glittered his antlers with stickles. This die was real easy to layer because all the pieces were big. Anyways, thanks for stopping by and have a great Monday evening!

Meet Kathy and Kitty Fairy

So last week, I'm looking at these new Hello Kitty dies and thought that I should try to use several of them on one card and see how it turns out.I used the heart & wings die for the background and embossed the heart with the swiss dots folder and glittered the wings. The yellow flower is from the daisies die. Then I decided to use Kathy, Kitty's friend. She's such a cute little bunny. Not sure why this photo came out so grainy. It looked fine as I was fixing it but terrible once I posted it. And that "special day" is a Sizzix rub-on from the birthday rub-ons pack.
This is the Hello Kitty fairy die. At first when I looked at the die, I thought it looked the same as all the other dies but after cutting it out, it turned out so cute! I used the butterflies & blossoms cs from the DCWV paper pack and it matches the the same dress that is shown on the die. Her wings are glittered and her bow too. The star in the background is from the Spellbinders star nestabilities set and I embossed the star with the swiss dots folder. I just love that folder. Can you tell it's my favorite???
I will be at all the Ben Franklin stores this month on Saturdays doing different make-it take-its with this new Hello Kitty collection. You don't want to miss it because they are all sooo cute! The Paa St. store is on Oct. 11th from 10-12 pm.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a great weekend!

Princess Kitty

I'm really not into yellow lately, but here's another card. It just seemed to match with the red cardstock and glitter. This Princess Kitty is such a cute die.
I made her crown with silver foil cs and put red glitter in the hearts. I took this photo in the late afternoon with hardly any sun and somehow the silver ended up looking like gold. I used the treading water punch and threaded ribbon through the holes.

Well, this weekend is Scrap Pink and I'll be at the store along with Jean. Sizzix has a Scrap Pink kit that is full with different dies and a part of the sales from this kit goes to the Susan G Komen Foundation. October is breast cancer awareness month.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you on Saturday!

Here's Lorry

I was downstairs this afternoon cutting some kits for Saturday and ended up making a card. This is from one of the new Hello Kitty dies that I bought today. This is Lorry, one of Hello Kitty's friends. I also used the Hello Kitty circle shapes die for the background. I can't remember the name of the die.

Here's a closer up photo of Lorry. This was one of the easiest dies to layer.
Well, thanks for stopping by! I'll be posting another card tomorrow.

Hello kitty

So excited that these dies are finally here! I've been wanting to scrap some layouts with Miss Kitty for an album and make some pillows too.
I know, this picture is kind of crooked but I had to work with little light in the room and this was the best angle to catch the light. But, these dies fit perfectly on a card front.
I put glitter on the flower petals. And you can see the glitter here. Also used some Hero Arts gemstones for the bling and a Hero Arts flower. Well, I'll be showing a bunch of items made with these new dies on The Joy of Crafting show in November.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

Almost forgot...

I made these other cards and haven't posted them. BTW, most of you know that I also post for the store. So if you visit the store blog-o, the same samples are normally posted there too. This first card was something that my husband challenged me to work with. I had to use the Cuttlebug embossing folder bird call. This is actually the 2nd card I made out of this folder. I didn't care for the colors that I used on the first card, so I changed it to these colors - pink, red and green. Here's a closer look at the card front.I glittered the bird and it looks so pretty IRL. Here's another card I made using the snowflake embossing folder for the background.
The snowflake die is one of the new dies from Cuttlebug. First you cut it out and then you emboss it. This card looks better IRL too.
Well, thanks for stopping by and see you in another week since that seems to be how I've been posting lately.

Trick or treater

Last week as I was going through my piles of scrap papers, I came across an unfinished box that I made from a full sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock. I don't even remember where I saw this but it was from sometime last year. So I finished it and made something.I just picked up this die from the store and thought it was perfect for this box. It wasn't hard to piece together as it looks. The black in the pumpkin is actually black glitter. I know it's hard to see because of the way that I took this photo but there was no sunlight today.
The deets:
Sizzix Halloween die, Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder, Fiskars treading water punch, Spellbinders nestabilities in oval scallop and classic, Worldwin cardstock, DCWV cardstock, black glitter and black ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Back again

Today was spent partly filming Ben Franklin Craft's tv show, The Joy of Crafting. It will air in November. If you're planning to make Christmas projects and need some ideas, the show airs every Sunday on OC16 at 6:30 pm. It's always fun to meet other crafty women on the show.

I didn't get to post the other cards that I made earlier in the week so here goes...

This is a cute little gift card holder that I embossed with the spiderweb embossing folder from Cuttlebug. When I first bought this folder, I really didn't think that I would be using it as much as I have been. I just love this new clear stamp set from Penny Black. The circles were cut using the Spellbinder's large and petite classic circles. I kind of messed up the coloring on this second card. So I tried to cover up my mistakes with glitter, but made it worst. This stamp is also from the same clear stamp set. It's called "Trick or Treat". On this card, I embossed the background with Sizzix texturz set #6.

I'll be back this weekend with the rest of the cards. Have a great evening everyone and thanks for stopping by!
